We at VAAY are convinced of our products. Nevertheless, we experience almost daily what pioneering work is still ahead of us and the whole CBD industry. Many people still have completely wrong ideas and assumptions, as our evaluation of the latest CIVEY survey on CBD shows.
In the largest study ever conducted in Germany, two different test groups were interviewed. Firstly CBD users who have already gained experience with CBD products and secondly so-called CBD experts. This group includes all respondents who have already dealt with the topic CBD but have not yet tested any CBD products themselves.
At first glance it is already exciting to see how many Germans have already heard about CBD products and how many have already consumed these products.
Here it becomes clear that with 46.7% of Germans the majority of the population has not yet heard of CBD (cannabidiol). According to the survey, the second largest group with 44.6% is those who have heard of CBD but have not yet consumed it. The smallest group is that of experienced users, which is 8.7% of Germans. Thus Germany is internationally at the bottom of the league. In our neighboring country Austria the group of users is 29%, in Switzerland 24% and in the USA and Great Britain 21% of the population.

1. How well do CBD users know their CBD products?
Whether we choose the CBD Bath Ball, the Diffuser Pen or a CBD Oil depends on many factors: the CBD effect, the application area, the ingredients, packaging or the brand. Therefore it is often difficult to filter out which products are high quality or not. However, the crucial question is: How well do CBD users really know their products? In our survey CBD users we asked which CBD quantities they consume. The largest group (43.2 %) states that they do not know in which quantities they ingest them.
39.3 % are quite sure about the amount of CBD they have to ingest. In contrast, 6-11% say that they know what amounts they ingest occasionally to rarely. These values alone are frightening. And show how important our educational work is here.
While almost everyone can recite by heart what strength of aspirin they take for headaches, at first glance CBD users do not seem to care what amounts they take. But this is surely also due to the rather poor information and dubious online offers where they buy their CBD products. You know better: We provide you with exact information on the ingredients of all our CBD products. We know how important it is to know exactly what and how much CBD you take in. If you know your CBD tools exactly, you can use them to your advantage!
2. What do CBD users pay special attention to when buying CBD products?
Let us now turn to a relatively interesting question: The participants of the study were asked what they personally consider most important when buying CBD products. Almost 30% indicated the quantity and strength. Slightly more than 22% indicated the naturalness of the product and almost 20% an organic certification. Origin, price and other factors each accounted for approximately 9% of the answers. The terpene profile 2.1%. Here, too, a relatively interesting result: because terpenes in particular are among the most important active ingredients in CBD products. Unfortunately, only very few people know this. 3. What prevents CBD experts from using CBD products?
Looking at the advantages of the CBD, the essential question arises, why CBD-connoisseurs decided against taking cannabidiole? The most frequent statement is that there is currently no need (33.8%), closely followed by the statement that there is actually nothing against taking these products. Slightly less than one third of the respondents can imagine taking CBD products (29%). 15% of the interviewees state that they fear health risks. In the lower 10% range, doubts about the general CBD effectiveness, ignorance about its acquisition and about the origin of the product are mentioned.
The percentages of health risks or potential memory loss in particular are particularly alarming. A great deal of pioneering work is still needed to remove these misconceptions from people's minds. Maybe you are already a CBD user and have experienced something like this: If you tell friends or relatives about your positive experiences with CBD products, you will usually be interrupted by at least one listener. And that with a whole load of false information or assumptions. Now you may patiently refute each of the arguments with scientific facts and in the end some listeners still remain undecided. Two opinions, who is right?
4. Can you imagine using CBD in the future with a good product range?
The test group of CBD experts answered the question whether they could imagine taking a CBD product if the availability would be somewhat better with "Yes, definitely" (33%). Slightly more than 16% tended towards a "Rather yes". 13% are undecided. 21% tend to a "Rather no" and the largest group of 25.7% gives a clear "No, absolutely not".
The questions were extended: Because we wanted to know in which areas the users could imagine that cannabidiole could be used. The most frequent answer was given here to healing ointments with almost 44%, closely followed by massage oils and vaporizers. Otherwise, dietary supplements, food, beverages, bath additives or cosmetics were mentioned here. Very important! The second most frequent answer with 35,4% is not in any of the mentioned areas.
For comparison: The group of CBD users states that they could imagine using CBD in the future via vaporizers (28.2%), cosmetics (19.9%) or bath additives (17%).
The figures also show: Nearly one third of all respondents have a positive attitude towards an application with CBD, but either do not know exactly where they get the products from or in which area they can be used most effectively. Interesting is the high percentage of the healing ointment as a desired product. This suggests that many CBD experts would prioritize products with a healing CBD effect.
5. Where can you most likely imagine buying CBD products?
When asked where most likely to buy corresponding CBD products, almost 44% of CBD connoisseurs answer that they would expect to find the product in the range of traditional pharmacies. Online stores, CBD specialty stores, drugstores and alternative stores are balanced here with values between 10% and 12%. Supermarkets and online intermediaries receive the fewest encouragement. Here, too, we are faced with a difficulty: many customers trust only classic pharmacies when it comes to health.
Let us now take a look at CBD users: Where do they want to buy their CBD products? Here, too, the pharmacy is in the first place with 25.4%. The difference to the CBD connoisseurs is reflected in the area of online shopping. Here more than 20% of CBD users would make a purchase online. In comparison: The CBD-connoisseurs state 12.4% for "online directly from the manufacturer" and 6.0% for "online from the retailer".
This result must be considered separately. It is also important to know which CBD experiences respondents have gained in the past in online trade and online shopping in general. These experiences then color the corresponding questions.
6. Does the state have to provide information for better general conditions?
Similar to the evaluation of the survey whether THC should be legalized in Germany, the question whether the German state should create better framework conditions for the sale of CBDs also shows a clear picture. More than 40% of CBD experts are in favor, 21.1% are undecided and almost 18% tend to say "rather yes". The group that has indicated a "no" here is evaluated with 9.2%. "No, by no means at all!" was stated by 11.7% of the respondents.
7. For what purpose and at what time of day were CBD products used?
Relaxation, pain relief or general well-being? The purpose of pain relief takes first place! 47.6% and thus the majority of users take CBD to relieve their pain. Rank 2 and 3 are taken by the wellness and relaxation sector. 31% wish to sleep better and take CBD to help them sleep. In 20% of the users CBD was used against inflammation. 6% state that they used it to promote concentration. About 8.5% take CBD for muscle relaxation after sports. 14.5% of the respondents state that CBD was used for another purpose.
With regard to the time of day when CBD users most frequently consume CBD, almost 50% stated evening. Almost 22% regularly spread their consumption throughout the day and almost 15% add CBD in the morning. Few of them choose lunchtime. Here the value is almost 4%. At night 10.8% still use their CBD product. For the night owls among us, we have developed a CBD oil that can support your sleep, enriched with melatonin. Learn more about the VAAY Night Melatonin Spray with hemp extract.
8. How do active CBD users evaluate their CBD experience?
In an evaluation of the general experiences that these users have had with CBD, 40% state that their experiences have been very positive and 33% "rather positive". Nearly 20% are undecided. And only 7.6% indicate rather negative or very negative experiences. Compared to classical drugs and side effects these would be valences that speak for the use of CBD products. But this is only seen from a mathematical point of view.
The question whether CBD will ever be used again was answered by 59.1% of the users with "Absolutely" and by 16.8% of the users with "Yes". On these questions only 10.3% of the users are undecided. The group indicating a "Rather no" or "No by no means" is close to 15%.
9. Conclusion: CBD is currently on everyone's lips, but unfortunately often with a lot of wrong information and assumptions!
In summary, the whole thing can be classified as follows: Many people who fall into the group of CBD experts still have a wrong idea of CBD and its potential uses. Also regarding side effects and dangers. The group of CBD users, who have already had positive experiences with CBD products, sees the whole thing completely different. In Germany a good deal of pioneering work is still necessary to remove false ideas from the minds of the CBD expert group. For us this means to stay on the ball.
